答案:(A) fictional

解析

語意「製作『虛構的』報導來愚弄觀眾」,fictional(虛構的)符合愚人節惡作劇的語境;essential(必要的)、ancient(古老的)、subjective(主觀的)都不合。

同一句句尾已經把答案講白了:in order to fool their audiences(為了愚弄觀眾)。 The BBC once reported that Swiss farmers were experiencing a spaghetti crop(BBC 曾報導瑞士農民迎來義大利麵大豐收),還播出人們從樹上採收麵條的畫面。

essential(必要的)、ancient(古老的)、subjective(主觀的)都不是「假的」。

fictional(虛構的)、fictitious(捏造的、假的,語氣更強調刻意造假)、fiction(虛構作品;虛構的事)、non-fiction(非虛構作品)、fool sb into Ving(騙某人去做……)、in order to V(為了……)、play a trick on sb(捉弄某人)、hoax(惡作劇、騙局)、make up a story(編造故事)。
